The crucifixion wasn't the end. Jesus rose from the dead.
1 Cor15:4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
5and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve.
6After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.
7Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles 8 and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
Jesus’ resurrection was witnessed by 500 people together at one time; but also he appeared to others over a period of 40days
A judge once stated, that if the evidence for the resurrection of Christ was submitted to a jury, the jury would unanimously vote on the evidence given, that beyond reasonable doubt, Christ did rise from the dead.
There has been more than one atheist who  set-out to disprove Jesus rose from the dead, but ended up believing that He did by the weight of evidence in favour of it. One was Frank Morrison, who wrote the book, 'Who Moved the Stone.'
